Post install notes as reference for anyone who's looking into hks hipermax s. I kept the lowering height and damping setting the way it was shipped from hks - lowered 27mm and set half stiff(soft?). Should be 5k front and 6k rear. Build quality looks nice.

Very simple install, took about 4hours to do myself. Ride itself reminds me of my 16brz, but a touch stiffer. A little bouncy without changing the damping firmness. Fairly comfortable ride all around - but I feel it can be a bit stiffer without being too harsh for a DD.

Will play with it a bit and maybe raise it back up 10mm before getting an alignment. Legamax exhaust is on the way, will update when I install it!

Side note, Japanese Yen is at an all time low - not a bad time if anyone is thinking of buying right now. Too bad the prices of everything else is ridiculous.

I really want the Fujitsubo A-R exhaust but even now it's still just too crazy expensive. I guess I'll keep waiting for my HKS to arrive in August, even that one is pushing how much I'd like to spend on an exhaust.

I'm so impatient though, I'm tempted to get something that's available now and use it temporarily until my HKS arrives, but that's contradictory to my penny pinching lol.

Appreciate hearing that info about the Subaru ones.

I was set on the Toyota ones but they look a little chunkier than they need to be and it doesn't seem like they'll do much (especially with the front side vent getting the doors messy whenever it rains). I'm back to leaning towards the Subaru ones but I'm not sure.

I'd have done the Subaru ones but @Kado told me he was dragging his flaps everywhere. The Toyota ones could definitely have used a little better coverage but it's "fine"

I know how you feel haha. You could always just grab a used first gen until then, resale shouldn't be too bad

More info here if you're interested, not sure if you've seen it.

New wheels came in. They were the last complete set of 17x8 of the 6ULs. Will be going on Monday with the stock Primacys. Was planning on putting either PS4S or AS4s, but I'm getting a real good deal on an engine for the Miata, so money is short at the moment. Especially after buying the car and another set of wheels/tires for autox.

How well do the stock 215s fit on an 8inch wheel?

Today I installed the Cerwin vega spare wheel subwoofer, it worked on the first try so was thankful I didn't have to troubleshoot anything. But I am considering redoing the power though because the kit I got said the power cable was 8 gauge but it's definitely smaller wire, closer to 12 I would say. I'm uncomfortable with that so need to look for better option while I have everything removed inside.

Another problem is that I have no spare wheel currently so the sub sits low and because of that when I temporarily put back the foam pieces and the trunk floor board to test fit, it sunk with any weight on it, basically. So i need to find a way to support that now.

I'll post a pic tomorrow, it got late and I was in a hurry to clean up.

I bought a front license plate mount from Subaru and it seemed to be overkill for my BRZ, so I put it on the front of my Ascent and it was an improvement there. I used the supplied well nuts. I also replaced the hex head screws on the rear license plate with pan-head screws which won't snag the wash mitt and shred it. The rear license mount has four plastic anchors built into the tail gate. Square one with the BRZ and then the license plates showed up earlier that I expected. On the front, I did not want to drill new holes at the indicated dimples, so I just go some metric stainless steel screws to fit the threaded inserts already there and drilled the license plate to match. Simple and neat. The dealer had already drilled two of the four holes on the rear to install their dealer frame and advertising insert. I could have just run some screws right into the plastic, but I decided to install the well nuts also sporting stainless steal pan head screws. I did not install the two lower ones as just the top two seem to hold the license plate flat and secure. I am not into fancy frames and extra hardware that manages to collect dirt and bugs. I am glad that dealers don't drill holes and rivet mount their trademarks and logos on the body or trunk lid like they used to.

Call them dated, but I'm traditionalist so I went with RPF1s and the stickier Pilot Sport 225/40/18 (Porsche Spec PS2). Heat cycled them first day, then yesterday took them for an aggressive mountain road rip. Seems nice a bit more grip than stock with no downside that I can tell. Pegged the G-Meter many times without issue.
