i dunno. i saw the story. the issue was really the PD attempting to pat themselves on the back with a twitter/facebook post for "keeping everyone safe by 'disarming' it".

one of the comments on autopian reminded everyone that once bomb squad is called, they HAVE to treat every threat as real, and capable of detonating an entire block until it's been disarmed. whether it's a book, an empty bag, or a small aluminum cylinder with a spring in it.

the first mild mistake was the police identifying it as a threat. though, i'd rather have them take threats seriously than to dismiss things out of hand.

it's easy to get elitist because as car people, we've all either seen the part as we were working near/on a tensioner. but to the majority of the world that doesn't open their own hoods, i can easily see how an aluminum cylinder with a pin in the top would've been taken as a makeshift bomb. movies haven't helped create this impression that a single M80 can level an entire city block either.

I hope by “disarming” it they detonated it in place lol. That would make it so much better.

I humbly agree with all of your take on it. Absolutely. Thanks.

When looking at car sale description & said “lightly modded”… but clearly not “lightly modded”. But of course definition of “lightly modded” vary by everyone.

1st red flag.

when any listing has the price of:
routine maintenance
replacement parts
modifications

almost never worth the time to even go look at it. they're always thinking that those parts prices at new values are in addition to the kbb valuation...

Kinda, it’s more of interesting to see/hear individual definition for “lightly modded”. Imo term lightly modded mean, can turn it back to stock in 1 day. So like wheels, catback, light bulbs. But other doesn’t agree w my definition.

My rant w mods is when they say “tasteful mods”. That triggers me

I will never understand anyone who sells this car. It's so special, I literally cherish mine.
