I did on my first gen. The muffler made it sound like it was full of marbles... I'll find out on my 2nd gen shortly though!

Tomei Compatibility

looking at getting a tomei 60s for the 22 brz but getting conflicted information.

Tomei website says it wont fit but ive seen some people already with the type 80 on their car.. wondering if maybe the 80 fits but the 60s doesnt since it comes out on the other side.

Stock exhaust other than JDL UEL, cold start and some free-revs (besides cold-start, sounds great IMO):

JDL UEL & Perrin 2.5" catback. Stock overpipe & frontpipe. Cold start and some free-revs:

Woo, pretty goldilocks sounding inside (thank you for disconnecting the sound generator thing!)

I recall Perrin saying the 2.5 exhaust had some problems on the '22s for some reason and it doesn't work but 3" is fine. I didn't see any elaboration on why. Is what you installed here new for the '22s or the same parts as for 1st gen? If not new, do you think you know where they had in mind some sort of fit problem?

It's still plugged in, haha. I'll test with it unplugged.

No clue, this is a 2.5" for the prior generation and bolted right up. Zero fitment issues. I know they had originally tested the 3" on @trippinbillies40 car but not the 2.5"

Thanks, haha had to listen again because I didn’t notice, but I guess in that clip you only revved to 6k or so where it’s not buzzing so hard.

FWIW I definitely can't hear the ASC anymore. Like, it's not obvious like it was stock.

This exhaust combo is definitely boomier inside than on the first gen. Maybe because of the lack of spare tire in the trunk to damp out the noise?

Something very strange just happened.......plugged my sound enhancer back in.......and I liked it. With the exhaust done now, it's playing a very good tone in the cabin with the active sound enhancer plugged back in. I will say this tho, it does, kinda, feel like, implants lol. Having driven it for about a month without the sound enhancer and with the exhaust done, it just feels like a lie. It's hard to describe, I love the cabin sound from it, but it feels like cheating. Something else I noticed, I drove under a bridge and i could hear the echo in the cabin. Now I'm super curious to hear it in a long tunnel.

Curious about this now lol. Looked them up. Amazing sounding exhausts. They haven't had anything for our cars yet? Anyways, I have an HKS L Spec 2 arriving anyday. I'll post clips after install.

They’ve been mostly VAG focused from what I know.

This is great, I want my car to sound like that!
Really gives me the '08 WRX with N1 vibes

I love it, very deep and aggressive without being loud.

Finally recorded a video revving it all the way out:

Based on the few videos out there, I'm really liking the Borla S-Type. There had been some chatter about some kind of issue with it for the '22s - I won't speculate but regardless Borla doesn't list it as compatible. I emailed them asking about that and they didn't elaborate on why (I didn't really ask) but did say that a 2nd gen specific system will be available late spring.
