I hate to say, Honda isn't that reliable anymore either, unless that's the trend of most manufacturers these days, as you've identified in your video.

that is actually one of the points i bring up in the video. People like to generalize, but really it comes down to specific model/year/etc.

hey guys sorry, but I am an unashamed YouTuber in the making I totally get it if you feel that it's a SPAM in your life. But c'mon, this topic is pretty interesting isn't it? A lot of people have an opinion about this topic one way or the other.

I didn't see too much response initially, so I thought the thread was kind of dead, but now I come back to find good conversation. awesome. But I can see how this "drop your video and just leave" could've looked like how I'm just trying to promote my channel only.

Another plug here... I made a video called "do you have to own a manual to be considered a car enthusiast?". I won't link the video in the forum again (then it's really spamming), but check it out on my channel if you'd like.

for those of you who watched the video, thank you, I`m just looking for a conversation, but regretfully the title needs to be sort of click-baity to get my start.

Do your thing. I am also dabbling in the vlog world, but I think I look like a moron on camera, so I don't show my face ever LOL, just a voice-over in FPV or drone or whatever. Comments section will eat you alive if you try to care.

i don't click videos with over excited people in the intro. so i don't click on about 75% of youtube.

All i noticed was a new beemer in the middle of the road at randwick , that was in need of resurrection. Why spend $100000 on a car , when an old $3000 4wd is more reliable?

People seem to froth over Euro cars, they are typical to J cars, the only issue is the additional Euro tax on parts and all the superfluous electronics.

I like the KISS philosophy, engine check lights love all the added snot.

Euro's did have a bad name years ago though, but again, brand and model dependant.

Some can make some serious power with only a tune, here lies alot of the issues with reliability.

I just wish I could get a RWD manual Golf R, with only some minor mods and tuning those puppies become weapons.

Most luxury brands are always first-to-market with technology. Think of when the first HUD (heads-up display) appeared on the 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (not a luxury brand LOL, but you get the picture).

It was pretty crappy starting out (pretty cool when it appeared in an F/A 18 cockpit in the 1970's, but fugly when it hit the car market). But look where it evolved. Audi and Mercedes introduced thermal cameras into some of their cars to spot deer and other live objects you're about to run over. High-end customers are willing to pay for the new technologies, and then all the bugs get smoothed out and transfer down to the common class cars.

All of these things compound on each other to make for a higher cost of ownership, which makes for higher depreciation, so that even if your specific car is reliable, you still lose.

Only looking at BMW, I like to think about the E30's and E36's as somewhat reliable/(predictable is more appropriate).
E60 M5 as a ticking time bomb, although awesome exhaust note.
E92 M3 as the last reliable Bimmer (NA V8).
Anything with a turbo/TT start to question reliability/predictability.
