I'm going to ask again since several have been purchased. Curious minds want to know.

What did you pay for yours before taxes and fees??

I really couldn't tell a difference even with the seat down, but then again my tinnitus is so bad it would probably have to be significant drop for me to notice.

I will say that the sound quality from the 2015 head unit is better, with more robust bass and more control over tonal options. The 2015 head unit fit all Scions but was "tuned" for the FR-S. The 2020 head unit is actually pretty cheap and simple, sounds a bit tinny, and has only very basic tone controls that don't seem to actually do much. But it does support Android Auto, which was important to me.

As a musician, I listen to LOTS of classical music and Jazz. In the greater Boston area, we have the best classical on 99.5 WCRB. I can get this with HD FM on the 2015 head unit from two different transmitters. I use my phone to get 91.1 KCSM Jazz from the SF bay area and to get WCRB when travelling.
I have a2013 BRZ and initially did not like the sound of the head unit and speaker system. But over time it’s broken in and I think it’s pretty decent for a car at this price point.

The multi and EQ gives a lot of control. After having set up a number of profiles which can be created, saved and selected, Ive gone back to a straight line EQ.

I have my 2020's EQ set with the treble all the way down and the bass all the way up in an attempt to make it sound less tinny.

What I have found, though, is that the system sounds way better if you turn the volume up pretty high. It's like it was tuned to be cranked by teenagers. Unfortunately running it that loud hurts my ears after 15 minutes or so... I'm that guy who plays in rock bands but always wears earplugs.

I think the HU and speakers in my car would sound just fine if the damn window switches didn't vibrate so much. I pretty much can't run any bass or it's unbearable. One of these days I'll pull the door cards off and fix that.

So what did you guys pay before taxes, registration, stealership fees??
They installed some add-ons before I even had a say in the matter, like the pulsing brake light, and window etching. They knocked those off the bill for me and knocked a little of the MSRP. I added all-weather floor mats and mud flaps. It was $29k-ish before all the taxes and fees.

Could I have gotten a better deal? Probably.
Do I care? Not really. I love this thing!

And that is the way to think. You always could have gotten a better deal. Don't fret about it. Too many people get hung up on how much they paid. Not me. I know that when I bought both my 2019 TRD SE and then my 2018 Mustang I could have gotten a better deal. But who gives a damn. Life is too short to worry about a few grand. You'll earn more money. Drive and be happy

Just bought a 2020 86 Hakone edition today. Paid $1500 under invoice and also received the $500 vet discount. Won’t drive it during winter so March can’t get here soon enough!

CONGRATULATIONS, nashcarr, and WELCOME over here on the 86 forum -

So, are still going keep your Miata?

When will you take possession of your new car?

If you do decide to drive it in the winter, it does OK on winter roads with good winter tires.

This forum is full of good information, so just look around.

If you have any questions (after you read the manual - ) and search the forum, just make a post or PM ol humfrz and I'll direct you to the appropriate resident expert.

Oh yes, you can "thank" other posts after you post about 10 times and when driving your 86, stay the hell waaay back from parking stops, they are closer than they are with your Miata.

YES, I love that old car.

Hopefully next week.

I have a Toyota Sequoia 4x4 for that!
