I work presently for the Texas Department of State Health Services. As part of my job, I handle blood and blood products regularly. Mostly dried blood spots on cards, collected from newborns and infants, so that's not very dangerous.

Anyway, I have to have Hepatitis B and C vaccinations every so often. No big deal, every time in the past I have gone up to the sixth floor, taken my shot like a man and gone back to work. Not this time, apparently. We are being taken to a private clinic, not more than a mile from our building, to get our Hep C booster next Friday. I know that it can't be cheaper to ship this task out to a private contractor, but hey, this IS Texas so somebody has to be making money off of this scheme and there's a kickback to someone else involved, probably. Otherwise, why privatize something that has been doing fine for years?

Your tax dollars at work. Feh.
