Performance Pack Brembos and Stainless Steel Lines
Hey guys,
Quick question that I couldn't find an answer to from searching: Will the Stoptech stainless steel lines available at ft86sf fit with the Brembo brake calipers on the Performance Package BRZ? I'm not sure if the fittings for the lines have changed.

Should be the same fittings. I would go with Speigler brake lines though.

Why is that? I don't know too much about the differences between brake lines

Extra twist on the brake line = higher chance premature failure especially if you daily it.
Speigler you can adjust and get the twist out + lifetime warranty. If you don't really daily it ya go ahead. |

Brake lines are wear items and consumables. They should be changed regularly if you track often. OEM lines are already braided from the factory. |

At what interval would you recommend to replace them for a car that tracks 1-2x a month? There isn't a way to check the lines AFAIK. Once a year? Every couple of years?

IMO, unless you know exactly why you want the stainless lines just stick with OEM.

A while back I ruptured a SS line on my MINI headed into a highway off ramp carrying some decent speed. Kept it on the road and it was all good in the end, but it was unpleasant.
Inspect your brake lines often, even if you don't track the car. I made a mistake...a very large pothole (bent a wheel) had shifted the line just a bit and it was rubbing on the wheel. I should have had a look immediately instead of waiting a few days. I don't think it would have happened with an OEM line. If I had to choose an SS line, I'd go with Spiegler. - Andrew Last edited by Racecomp Engineering; 12-04-2017 at 05:51 PM. |

I see it recommended for tracked cars, since I'm flushing the system next week and replacing the fluid I thought I might as well swap the lines too since they aren't too expensive.

Keep good fluid in the lines and good pads on the calipers, way more important than your <1 year old brake lines. |
