There are, of course, different levels of HOAs. I've lived in one that was "voluntary" which means I didn't participate. The one where we have lived the last 25 years basically takes care of the common grounds and the community pool, tennis, basketball and little league baseball field, and leaves you alone. There are some building restrictions, and some things you have to get approved but it's nothing overbearing. I get the occasional letter from the management company on the condition of some portion of my front lawn but it's usually something I know needs to be done, just haven't gotten around to doing it since yardwork is always the bottom of todo list somewhere below take a nap, and get a root canal. Worst one was a letter complaining about a bench we had out by our mailbox that shouldn't be there, well except we didn't have a bench, and never did. I called them up and told them that they could reinspect if they wanted but I wasn't going to remove a bench that didn't exist, if it did exist it was invisible and I wasn't sure how i could find it, could they send a photo? The lady just laughed and said they'd figure it out. Some of the other neighborhoods we looked at, I asked to see the HOA requirements and restrictions first. If it was more than i could read through in a handful of minutes, we moved on.

Called the shipping company to have my front bumper delivered Wednesday. Called HOA to get shit cleared. I should have my wheels delivered and waiting for me when I get home. I'm just praying for no more shit goes wrong.
My wife is totally done with HOA. She told me that next house is no HOA. It doesn't matter how much it cost. |

You may consider requesting a copy of the last two sets of minutes of the HOA meetings. The secretary should have them. That may give you an idea of if the HOA is just picking on you or they are a PIA for many. |

Not that I'm bitter or anything. Actually it's a running family joke. We'll come across something like say quads or dirt bikes and the kids will go "Dad, why didn't you ever buy us that when we were kids...oh wait, that's MOM'S fault because she wanted us to have friends instead."

Then I would suggest that they do their (as buyers) due diligence and talk with some of the neighbors in the neighborhood to get an idea if the HOA is a PIA or not. Full disclosure - no surprises - kept me out of court as a real estate broker through hundreds of transactions over 10 years. |

Well, folks, it's about 6 PM here and it's still 97 degrees out there, which is pretty warm for these parts. The girls are worn out from splashing in the pools all day. Their parents are bringing Chinese over for supper tonight (to eat in our central ACd house).
Ma-ma decided she could see enough of the pool from her easy chair inside the AC house, so she didn't have to be outside. Pa-pa got his nap. All is well - ![]() A shout out to ol @Sapphireho - ![]() Have you recovered? Was the surgery a success? Is your hot tub boiling over? Is the money bar still in business? ![]() |

Go the 2019 swap running. All seemed good until cold start stopped and it dropped down to a 750rpm idle with a bad tick from the back right. There is a bit too many factors at the moment given it is a new engine, burning off the grime, new ecutek tune (all trims reset,) all new injectors/pump and somehow running off of 2.5 years old fuel!
I'm hoping it is just new engine woe's. Fingers and toes crosses. After I get the cooling system replaced I'll let her run for a good while and burp. Really hoping it just needs a good running. That being said all sensors seem happy! video https://streamable.com/48qflw |

FWIW I had the same problem back when I moved into my current house, though without a HOA. The neighbors of the cul de sac decided they just ran the place. I told I wasn't aloud to work on my own car during the day in my driveway as it was unsafe. I also had a tendency to 'whip' around when backing my vehicles up my driveway at some >15mph. Was told there were too many children in the area and I was a danger. After the first time I just ignored Miss bossy wife who was drunkenly yelling from across the street. That behavior was just awful apparently and her husband showed up the next day to fist fight because of me not responding to her bitching. Every once in a blue moon I'll give her a wave as were still neighbors but, other than that we don't talk ![]() |
