Charvonia Design V1 Rear Diffuser

For those of you who remember the winner of the 2014 Scion FR-S Tuner Challange, the Speedhunters entry, you may also recall it had a sweet one-off rear diffuser. Well, it looks like they're finally putting it into production. See the article here. It's available for sale here.

I am in no way affiliated with Charvonia or Speedhunters, but I was inspired by the design when I first saw it. I love that it does away with the stock muffler, backup/fog light and the entire diffuser facade in order to increase the expansion angle. Assuming the angle isn't too steep-- hard to tell about that without testing-- it could potentially create more down-force than the lower slung diffusers from Velox, Driveway Labs, et al. Again, that's assuming the angle isn't so steep that it stalls. It probably needs some panels forward of the axle to smooth out the flow, too. And the overhang seems a little short... but hey, it looks good!

Anyway, just thought I'd get the ball rolling on the discussion here. I don't plan to buy it, but I can't wait to see pics from anybody that does.

That looks pretty race car. Would definitely consider it if it didn't delete my backup lights

Backup lights are super easy to replicate, especially if you have stock tail lights or any taillight with white light still

yup you can get a http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/c.../category/622/ and use original turn signals as reverse lights.

I own these already, about to sell them in fact. I'm running Lexons now so I don't have reverse lights anymore without the bumper light
I could presumably wire up some "new"reverse lights out of some aftermarket fog lights or something but I think I'll pass for now

I wonder if you could cut the rear bumper to make this fit, without having to chop the whole damn thing off.

I think so... but the hole for the light might overlap the remaining part. And the lower plane, on the sides, might need space above them for air to flow. Just something's to consider

Definitely my favorite looking one for this car, Price is way lower then i thought it would be, figured it would cost a ton. As for actual performance i would assume you get some benefits having a larger area for expansion, but probably still minimal. But unless you are actually going for lap times...does it actually matter

Edit: i think if i where to order this, i would try to make a block off plate so there is not a raw crash beam showing. Also probably paint it black

Exit angle looks pretty steep, but without CFD or tunnel time, it's hard to say. It just appears to be over 7°.
