Or is it? Was the first FR-S official press release incorrect when it said DPH fee is in addition to the base price?

He is absolutely correct about FJ Cruiser TRD S/E parts. When I ordered a new set of wheels they cross checked my VIN with their registered owner name database before agreeing to sell them to me.

Maybe Scion is different, but the Toyota side took steps to eliminate fraud.

Well, Canada only received 125 FRS 10 Series. They are all sold already. You can't get one even if you want one. Aaaannnnd... I kinda wanted one. Grrr... (apparently they have all been sold/spoken for, for months...) With each dealership getting only ONE unit. *le sigh* Off to BRZ land perhaps?

Meh...

Give it two years or less and the head lights will be standard. You'll be able to have push start and duel climate control as well.

What it has over the BRZ-L: More exclusive paint/availability, illuminated badges, different interior bits.

What it lacks compared to BRZ-L: Fog lights, rear spoiler, heated mirrors and leather/Alcantara seats

$70 less than a BRZ Limited is a little more than I expected.

How would putting these parts on your own car "fraud?" Especially with the numbered plates, there are some fairly big differences between the Series 10 and the other MY2013 FR-S.

Frankly, with as spend-happy as a lot of owners seem to be, they'd be shooting themselves in a very profitable foot if they didn't at least make the headlights available.

It's the means used to obtain the parts by claiming someone else's VIN as their own that is the fraud. It's deception for personal gain, especially when the parts are already available elsewhere without a VIN. I'm not an attorney.

Thats fine, I didn't realize what you were considering fraud there. In that case, I agree with you.

Still, shouldn't have to have to resort to it in order to buy parts you want over some feigned sense of uniqueness. A VIN shouldnt be necessary if you want to spend your hard-earned money on their parts.

The original price included destination charge. I don't believe it included dealer prep, etc.

OK, so the DPH fee is nothing new from the start and we're back to the 10 Series being $2,170 more than a standard FR-S. So if the new head unit is the GPS enabled 2014 unit that will retail for $1,198, that will help ease the increase. Big if, still aren't completely sure about the new audio system specs.
