Base BRZ exterior pictures?
Hello all, does anyone have any exterior pictures of a US spec BRZ. I have seen the wingless pics however they still have 17" wheels. All of these new reviews state that the base car has 16 inch wheels...

I honestly don't think the 16" wheel bit is true. That's less than the cheaper FR-S has. I just can't see that happening.
And no, no real pics (without camo) have been seen of it as far as I know.

I was thinking the same thing, what throws me is the mention of two different brake packages. I hope you turn out to be correct.

There is the possibilty that subaru is decontenting performance to reduce cost while scion is decontenting ammeneties to make their price point for a different market segment. The lack of venting in the front rotor may have been a reporting error, but it is entirely possible it does have the lower spec brake package in base trim. Soon enough I'm sure we will get something more defininitive.

As long as 16's will clear the brakes I think they'd make sense for a base BRZ...but not for $24,000 The base FR-S comes with 17's to appeal to a different crowd. I mean look at the tC, it comes with 18's standard!

The Mazda Speed3 has 18 inch. For the USA it is possible that the premium BRZ will have 17 inch and the Limited will have 18 inch. There is still over 6 months to go and content can change. |

The brake estimates are grossly over-exaggerated. I'd estimate them being around 11.5" up front and 11" in the rear.
Brakes are expensive and to keep costs down you'd be an idiot to believe them being 14" or whatever the claim was on twitter. |

It is far from absurd that the car comes with 16" wheels standard, especially with all of the article information that is out there. As pointed out, the base MX-5 comes with a 16" wheel. At the end of the day, a larger wheel/tire package does cost the manufacturer more money. To meet the price point it makes perfect sense. Scion is willing to compromise in other ways to meet their price, hence the 17" standard. This can not be looked at as a baseline for Subaru's decision. I would prefer the 17" standard, but intend to buy the base car as I like cloth more then suede and leather, and I do not like the spoiler. The deciding factor will be if the lesser car has a smaller brake package. Then I will step up to the higher spec model. I do not care if it includes 16" wheels.

I'd hit the smaller 16s if they still pack the same brakes as the rest. Wheels are easily swapped. In fact, unless the car brakes demand or the trim is already way up high, there's no need to put anything other than steel 16s. Cheap 17 alloys from factory just don't justify the mark up price.
