The Boyo was $85.00 from Amazon. I believe it was the 200C model. It's made to go into a license plate hole. But, you cut the blue wire to remove the guidelines and cut the white wire if you flip it upside down (like I did). The image is so clear and though it doesn't have IR, in the pitch black it has an extremely vivid and clear picture. Well worth it!

The service manual says the "+" should centered 20 inches behind the car.

Reading the Forester owners manual, it says the marks are approximately:

Approx. 10 feet (3 m) from the bumper (green horizontal line)
Approx. 6.5 feet (2 m) from the bumper (green horizontal line)
Approx. 3 feet (1 m) from the bumper (yellow horizontal line)
Approx. 1.5 feet (0.5 m) from the bumper (red horizontal line)

If the mounting of the cam was places dead center on the trunk lid fascia would the guide marks be skewed? My guess is no, but perhaps someone can confirm.

You can easily notice here that the image and guide marks are skewed already but on my previous vehicles (with oem rear cams) the image isn't skewed even though the cameras are mounted offset to the side.

What I did is put a 'brick' behind the bumper on the ground away from my bumper about 24" to where I felt comfortable the red line started. I centered it on the brick edge and the red line via the Radio.

Tested it out this morning where I park and it worked like a charm. Perfect.

WHere are the SVXdc instructions on this how to? Did you have to splice into existing wires or do you use a pin connector?

I think I am going to go w/ the Rydeen Duo, looks OEM.

I did ask the Subaru dealer if they would do the install, but they said it's a mod, which they won't do and it would affect warranty for electronics.

I've never seen a car warranty affected by installing aftermarket audio/navigation/camera equipment. Your dealer might be misinformed. Which dealer is this?

Anyway, it involves plugging in two wires into the existing stock harness. If your dealer doesn't like that, simply unplug the two leads if you have to bring it in for electrical warranty work. Or wait until SVXdc has a reverse harness/normal harness setup that goes between the stock harness and headunit, although the only thing on the stock harness is one wire that connects to the ebrake sensor, which you can safely just leave unlplugged and just get a replacement 16-pin harness to connect your video cable to.

No cutting, SVXdc's RCA w/ pins plugs right in to the 16 pin plug in the back of your BRZ's nav unit.

SVXdc will send you instructions via email after you purchase the RCA w/pins. He gives you pretty
detailed instructions with links to pictures. The short version is plug the pins in to the harness.

Alrighty, just bought the Rydeen Duo and emailed SVXdc for the harness. Looking forward to having this functional mod.

@sure74, did you have to "delete" parking lines from the camera or did they come that way? Hopefully the one I ordered doesn't come with them...

Great write up. I have the same question as above, is there an option to turn off the lines? With that said, how is the user interface on the stock nav in regards to the camera? What exactly do you press to choose the camera view?
