stage 2 tune stock headers - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Bough my car w/ a delicious stage 2 tune with no power upgrades. Seems to have a really nice even power band and minimal torque dip.. Low end power is really not bad at all, highway cruising and passing in 6th gear are no problem.

Don't have much experience with tuning.. Is there any issue keeping the tune on the car being stock otherwise?

If I add an EL header I should re-tune correct? (even though the stage 2 tune is already in place)

i have an oe header and i really want to get a catless header, so ive asked the forum many times and the answer is always: "yes, if you loose a cat you should re tune, if you just get a catted header like the ft86sf catted uel, youll prob be fine w/o a tune". but take my advise with a grain of salt because i just am on an oe header and have not actually modded it yet

probably dont even bother spending money on a header if its catted, as all the power gains, as well as sound gains, comes from it being catless. inb4 86mlr tells you to just use your oe header with the cat punched out. hes not wrong

I imagine the tune you are running now is not accommodating a missing front catalytic converter.

So if you went with a catted EL header you would likely be okay. But if you went catless you would definitely need a new tune to get rid of the initial startup to heat up that cat and to adjust ratios to take advantage of the new air flow.

If you ever get an aftermarket catted uel, definitely re-tune.

I'm running the ft86sf catted uel with a custom tune from OFT specifically for this header. You can contact them for the tune.

Did you get the Ecutek Cable and Licence from the PO? That is a good chunk of the cost of the tune. If the PO put all the stock parts back on he should have loaded the stock tune as well

How do you know you're using a DT tune for stg2 if the stock headers are on?

Indeed, are you sure this is a stage 2 tune? If you go on their website and read the first line for stage 2 tuning, you will see that you are REQUIRED to have a header for the tune.

"The Delicious Tuning - Stage 2 reflash for your Toyota 86, Scion FRS or Subaru BRZ adds increased torque across the board. In order to use the Stage 2 tune, we require installing an aftermarket header." - Delicious Tuning

I would also like to think that if you truly are running this tune, that it is not very optimal and may not be running correctly.

Worst case scenario, punch out the cat on the stock header. Should solve any issues with flow restrictions that the tune is designed to take advantage of.

It's fine, though it may be set to run a bit rich on top which could cause it to plug the cat. Likely not though.
