Infotainment

So what kinda infotainment do you guys want in the car? what do you definitely not want? and lets be realistic here. it may not come with a high end nav unit, but it certainly wont come with a stripped out interior as well...

XM/Sirius? Pandora? Bluetooth? Nav? GT-R style meters? toyota's new Entune? do you guys want a screen/touchscreen of any kind? Discuss!

honestly, the less menus I have to deal with in my stereo system, the better. I hate trying to navigate the screens in my father-in-law's BMW and his Raptor. Though, the Ford one is a bit easier to navigate since you don't have that silly knob in the center console by the shifter that you're supposed to navigate the display with.

I just need a radio tuner and iPod hookup with speakers. If I want anything else I would go aftermarket instead of paying for it from factory. Factory audio systems are not that great usually.

I'm just hoping for iPhone/smartphone integration, so you can take calls through the stereo system and stream music from your smartphone. If not, then at least an aux jack/usb port. No nav unit please.

All I want is USB port/Aux in, BT for handsfree calling, and that's it.

And since even the Yaris comes with a radio that does all of that I know the more expensive FRS can't come without it.

Do people want a screen/touchscreen for ipod/iphone integration? or do you prefer those voice operated systems?

me personally, voice operated anything never works 100%. touchscreen is better, but still nothing beats good old buttons. but simplicity is key. a sea of buttons is lame...

USB/Aux in, Bluetooth. No CD, no Nav, no touchscreen, no XM/Sirius, no Pandora. Make the speakers easily accessed for replacement with better units, or removal entirely. Since Yamaha is getting involved, I'd probably be down for a Vocaloid package, but I won't hold my breath.

Send a message via AIM to 82mm 4g63
I wish they would come out with a multiplatform application that could be installed onto a tablet pc as well as interchangeable bezels to fit Galaxy Tab/iPad/Xoom/whatevertab in the center console and completely replace the controls. Let everything be controlled through that tablet. I would love an Android powered car... lol.

Perfect!

I'll be honest, I also like having the SD card input like in my Golf TDI, but with a USB input I can just as well plug in an SD reader into it. I don't want a NAV or real-time traffic or any "app" BS, I already have all that on my smartphone and there's no good reason to be redundant. I'd prefer no CD player and no XM radio as they're both cost-adders with no modern use.
