I was just out walking Haru in my apartment complex near the driveway exit and saw two heavily-equipped sheriff officers with bullet proof vests, guns, etc.

So I asked one what was going on and he just replied "standard stuff" and kept walking.

They both got into an unmarked Dodge Caravan parked in the red part of the driveway. The van had tints so dark the windows could've been black plastic. Lots of computers in the front. I was surprised though, usually around here the unmarked cars still have a government-issue plate but this one was a totally normal civilian one.

Wonder what's going on, since apparently they don't like to share.

When I worked for the DA our cars had plates, that if ran, came up with fake names and addresses. It was fun pulling a "Starkey and Hutch" and putting the magnetic lights on the roof and blowing thru a few lights. "Gotta get home, the 9er game is on". Boy did I get in trouble.

PS - I got this magnet that goes around the gas line for sale - it aligns the gas molecules so as to give the engine more power - iffen you're interested, PM Bubba, I think he has a few left.
i don't think those are compatible with the plug-in fuel shark thingies.

Dude! Cascadia Subduction Zone. We're way overdue. It's going to make Tōhoku look like a kiddy pool spill.

I need to get some tie-down straps.

I'll take it off your hands for $50. Wire me the money and I'll tell you where you can ship it.

STAIL* that there is a limit to earthquake magnitude.
But if the CSZ lets go you'll know about it regardless of what number is assigned to it.

Two points of varying interest regarding the 2011 Japan earthquake.
The wife and I were in Japan when it struck. (I might have posted this story before.) We were in our motel room, in Kanazawa, on the 12th floor. I was sitting down and I started to sway, not violently but just a gentle side to side motion. My immediate thought was my inner ears/balance had gone awol. It was weird. I then looked at the curtains and they were swaying too and it clicked as to what was going on.

I had read that there were stone markers on the hills in the region where the tsunami struck saying do not build below these stones because tsunamis had struck here in the past.

*some time ago I learned
