Also saw this post in another thread. Seems like he had issues with spring on staying captive with the same setup as you had.
I was using the Raceseng perch designed to be compatible with OEM (I still am but now with Bilstein B16s).

My bolts must be the short ones, they don't stick out nearly that far. I added some stainless steel washers under the aluminum seats and the bottom of the bolt shank is flush with the bottom of the plate.

The interference I was referring to affects the forward/outer edge of the spring perch. Since the strut is on an angle compared to the steering axis, the strut changes angle when you turn the wheel. (have someone go lock to lock while you're watching the camber plate and you'll see what I mean).
The bottom of the strut rotates on an arc, like when your toe is on the ground and you elevate your heel, and then rotate your leg around your toe. THis changes the angle of the strut in relation to the camber plate and can make the outermost edge of the perch hit the plate. This would appear to only affect the 90mm OEM style perches since they're so wide. The fix would be to either have the perch machined with a shallower shoulder, or use a taller sleeve that interfaces with the bottom of the spherical bearing. Not sure if anything has been implemented in production, so it may be a moot point now.
