2013 BRZ TPMS Ateq Quickset problem

Works for everyone else. Doesn't work for me. I have a 2013 BRZ. I am using aftermarket sensors, Oro-Tek OTI-001B. The Quickset has never been able to set them, but the local tire shop has (Les Schwab), albeit after some difficulty. The tech claimed he had to set it as a Toyota and it worked. Cold night caused the TMPS light to turn on as expected, inflating further turned it off, as expected- so I know he was able to program it correctly with these sensors.

Using the Quickset, its LED light blinks successfully, however the TPMS light on the dash just blinks then stays solid, from what I understand this indicates an error. I have tried setting it as a Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S, 2013, 2014, etc.

All software has been updated and I'm ready to throw this thing in the trash. Granted, I am using aftermarket sensors, but they DID work. Do I NEED OEM sensors to work with the Quickset?

I'd prefer to have this function properly than just tape over the light, but I might go that route in the end if this can't get resolved.
