DD/Canyon Tire Recommendations?

Hey all, glad to be back on this forum after a few years of travel. Getting my ‘13 BRZ track prepped again but it’s also my daily as I sold my hybrid freeway killer.

Currently I have RS4s on my TE37SLs but looking for a better DD tire since I’ll be doing a lot of freeway and maybe an occasional canyon run.

For traction I’m pushing 300-310 who with edlebrock and E-85 so I’ll still need a bit of grip for the daily on ramp rip n

What’s good these days that will lessen cabin noise, last a bit longer as DD, and not break the bank?

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I found the Fallen Azenis RT615K to wear like iron, they were quiet, and cheap. A lot of dry grip

I don't think it's an unpopular opinion. They're often recommended for track work on a low budget, together with the SX2.
But OP already has RS4's, which fill the same niche as the RT615K+ of long lasting 200TW track tire.

For street I'd look into Max Performance tires like the PS4S or ECS2 (or several others), and chose by budget and brand preference. If you want even more wear and don't care as much about ultimate traction, even UHP All-Seasons will work well. This assumes you won't be tracking these tires, otherwise stick to Max Performance for light track and street.

You can’t go wrong with the ECS and apparently the 02 version is even better.

I can't say how well they'd hold up to track work, but I was pretty impressed with a set of Yokohama Advan Apex v601 tires on a 435 MSport.

The v601's felt every bit as good as a set of Pilot Sport 4S's in daily driving (dry and wet) and back road blasts in the mountains. On an autocross course they handled the heat and abuse from a heavy car much better than the Michelins.

Not sure you were even thinking about something higher than a 200TW tire (they are a 280), but thought I'd throw out another option.

Thanks! After doing some more digging I went with the PS4Ss. A little more than I wanted to spend, but from what I’ve read the premium is worth it.

I can second this. The Conti DW evolved into the ECS, which is now in it's current version of ECS02.

Continental generally takes a tire that fits a specific purpose and upgrade it over years. Each one they take feedback from customers and make the tire better.

The DW/ECS line has gotten better and better. It's own for being a great rain tire. It would fit well to be a great street tire for canyon runs / spirited driving, a lighter track tire, and excellent rain tire (street/track).

I own both (two sets of wheels) PS4 and Falken 615k+

Michelin is great year round in GA and does really good in the rain

Falken I use for track and some mountain runs, soft compound, great grip but careful in the rain once they become worn.

You'll get more life out of the Michelins but have better grip with the Falkens.

ECS02 as on par with PS4S now at least when I looked at several direct comparison reviews, with ESC02 getting maybe slight edge. Tyre reviews on YouTube always has good breakdown.

That says something about how good the PS4S is considering it is serval years older and is still the benchmark

Having lived with ECS02 for a bit it's an awesome tire all around. Ran PS4S years ago in stock sized fitment, if I bought again I'd go ESC at $400 less per set locally.
