Just bought a 2015 Series.Blue.. Too good to be true?
First, I previously had a 2014 BRZ Limited that I loved, but due to purchasing a house, with no room for items to haul, and it being my only mode of transportation in the Northeast, with horrible winters, I decided to trade it in on an Acura SUV in 2014. I ended up trading the Acura for a truck and I always longed for a sports car to complement the truck. To keep the story brief, I was able to purchase a 2015 White Series.Blue with 1,560 miles (you read that correct) for $21k from a local dealer. To me this price seemed like a steal. In 2014, I traded my 2014 limited in with almost 15,000 miles for $21k to the same dealership. They also had the BRZ listed as premium and not series.blue, so I am assuming maybe they mistook it for premium because it didn't show up as Limited and they are not a Subaru dealer.
Did I score a ridiculous deal or is it too good to be true? I took it for a test drive, tried to find every VIN to make sure they match and looked at the carfax, which was clean. The car still had the blue plastic on the pedals! The sales rep said the previous owner traded it in on a Lexus coupe. My assumption is it was an older guy who basically let the car sit for 3 years and then wanted something classier with more prestige and power. I looked underneath the car, in the trunk, in the wheel wells, in the engine bay and everything looked factory new. It even smelled new. There is absolutely zero wear and tear on any part of the vehicle. I tried doing a google search on my phone to see where the VIN are located to make sure it wasn't in an accident, but I would assume since the mileage is so low, it probably wasn't. Can you guys chime in with your thoughts? Thanks. |

Congrats on the find! If you want to be really safe you can take the car to a trusted mechanic for a through inspection including under-body inspection. But it sounds like you got a solid deal.
I've seen non-Subaru dealers mislabel Limited models as Premium and vice-versa. Some sales guys are going to do the work, others aren't if they are more interested in just getting rid of a niche sports car. I've seen a clean title 2017 BRZ with PP that had 3k miles go on sale at a Volkswagon dealer for $24,599. Two days later it was sold. |

Welcome back!
You can check the trunk and hood to see if the vin matches. I think you just got a good deal. |

It's a 2014 car, so there's going to be significant depreciation after 3-4 years no matter what the mileage. Also, you're in PA, and summer is more than half over. Dealers up north don't want to get stuck with "summer" cars like this over the fall and winter, so they are looking to unload ASAP now.

If you really want to be safe, you need to do that prior to purchase! All it would do now is make the owner feel better or worse about the purchase depending on the results. Regardless, it sounds like a great score!

Do you know where all the vins are? I think i found two on the front panels, two on the doors, and maybe one in the trunk. I don't think it was in an accident, but always good to be safe.

I didn't think I needed a mechanic opinion due to how new the car looked, how little miles were on it, the carfax, the test drive, the clear title, and the fact the dealership is pretty reputable. I've been going to them for my last few purchases and each time I've worked with different people and all have treated me the same way and I got great deals.

Blue accent interior? It's a Series.Blue then. The chances of someone replicating the interior is essentially zero. There is also a thread with all the listed VINs: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ht=series.blue
It's amusing they listed it as a Premium when the VIN usually pulls up a Limited (as it really is a Limited with extras) |

That is about the right price, there are a bunch of people that bought them thinking they would be some sort of collectible. Ha.
Just make sure you change out all the fluids, make sure the tires and belts are not rotting, as that can happen when cars sit without moving. Otherwise good deal. Oh, and be very careful of the front splitter. It can crack so easily because the material is really fragile. The rear can as well but that is harder to scrape on things. |
