Harness for OE seats.

What other harness besides schroth can be applied to our cars?

I'm looking at sabelt, but I don't know if it complies to scca or nasa regulations.

DO NOT use ANY harness with the OEM seats.

ALWAYS have a HANS device or equivalent if using a harness.

From what I've read on here, the best bet is a Schroth Rallye 3 and any harness has ASM technology. ASM is an anti-submarine mechanism that keeps you from sliding under the belts in a front-end collision.

Basically what the issue is here is your stock belts allow you to move to the side if the car rolls on its roof, and the locking mechanism lets out a little slack first and keeps you from sliding under the bottom belt in a front collision. If you get a traditional 4 or 5-point, those belts don't allow your body to move out of the way properly in an incident. I read it somewhere on here, but basically you don't use a harness if you don't have a fixed back seat, and you don't have a fixed back seat unless you have a cage.

I'm not sure about SCCA rules (albeit I SHOULD since I've been getting more and more into it), but if you're just autocrossing then I honestly can't see how any type of harness would hurt you because I just don't see someone on their roof or into a wall during an autocross. However, NEVER use a harness (other than a Schroth-type ASM) on the street. I even read on here how you really shouldn't drive a caged car on the street without a helmet or else your head will hit that solid metal cage instead or interior plastic.

This is a pretty good read: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17216

It has happened.

Hell, even a FSAE can roll over.

If you google for DSP BMWs there's plenty of them on two wheels. If you think you are immune from rolling over at an autocross you are fooling yourself.

I'm just tired sliding in my OE seats with or belts. So I'm looking for an upgrade to keep on the safe side. I like schroth rallye 3, but everyone in my category/class has it. So I'm looking for another alternative. Maybe the sabelt clubman 3-point, basically it's like the rallye 3. I just don't know if it's nasa/scca approved for the OE seats.

Have you considered altering your seating position so that you're not sliding around?

I'm with the CSG guys....

If you don't have roll protection and a 5 or 6 point harness and back brace (on an oem seat) you shouldn't be using harnesses.

Have you tried the CG-Lock mechanism?

I've been on a proper seating position. I'm just sliding down, so I'm more leaning towards now to rallye3.

Sliding down as in under the lap belt while you're driving? I don't think a 3 or 4 point harness will help you at all. Schroth's ASM is designed to prevent submarining during a collision with impact forces high enough to rip the threads holding the additional loop of material closed on one shoulder strap, not to prevent submarining during non-impact situations.

Not yet, I haven't seen anybody on the track has one, so spend $50+ on the Cg-lock to $150 for the harness, I rather go to the harness I think? Unless u have one and let me borrow it on the next track day in poconos?

Or you could spend $5 on one of these

Sounds like you're sitting too far from the pedals to me.

Slide your seat forward, so that you can rest your WHOLE foot on the dead pedal all the way on the left, while your butt and lower back is in complete contact with the rear of the seat. Adjust the steering wheel, as well as the height and angle of the seat based on that position.

It's not too far cause I use my left foot to the foot rest just to ancor/keep myself in the seat.

Sounds to me like you might just have bad posture that you may need to work on
