Climate control buttons alternatives

Hi everyone !

I was wondering if some of you have already taken apart the climate control buttons ?
(All the silver buttons, including the flat ones with automatic a/c)

I'm not a huge fan of adding aluminium on top on the plastic round ones (and can't find them in black or grey at a good price) and did not saw anyone modifying the flat ones.

My plan is to paint / recreate new ones for the round buttons and to paint / plastidip the flat ones. I can no longer support the silver color / quality

Thanks for your help !

If you like the new ones from the 2017+ refresh for the auto climate, you can buy those knobs from a dealership for fairly cheap and just put them on.

Hi !

Thanks for idea, but I don't see any differences from a quick web search:

It's just the color that changes ? Or it's not a correct picture ?

Have a nice day !

Looks like they only updated the BRZ and Toyota kept the old dials.

Can you explain how you removed that button? I attempted to remove them, but it felt like I was going to break the plastic. Thanks!

Using the tool between the button bottom and the climate control you should be able to push the pin inside the yellow circle.

Then simply pull out the button

The other way is to remove and disassemble the whole climate control unit which is more time consuming ...

Thank you, that is perfect! And exactly what I wanted to do.

BTW, you can remove and paint/wrap that chrome surrounding the start button.

That link has some rings for sale, but if you scroll down it shows how to pop the ring off. I wrapped mine in satin black 3M.
