The motor doesn't require more air than what the stock intake can provide.

Anybody is free to resurrect whatever they want for what ever reason they want I just found it funny that a 2 year old thread came back with info that was already said several times.

U can research grimmspeed, mishimoto, perrin etc. A proper tune will all but negate any gains from a quality aftermarket intake. They might show some gains on the cheesy stock tune but those gains wont stack on a good tune.

I guess I like science and proven testing. If nothing else it is a good read, and shows I think 60-70 different combinations of parts along with air fuel ratios, tuned / untuned results and more hard data. It has been awhile but I think 100 miles or so of dyno tests.

Wad of foam and a velocity stack? Do you also have the highest na hp frs?

Ok, so today I was telling a facebook group about the Perrin intake I got for christmas and a guy literally said that it would be a "mistake" to put it in. When I asked him why he thought that he said "go ask that to an 86 group" (we were having this conversation in a subaru owners' group).

Besides the fact that it won't improve my performance are there any other reasons why putting this intake on my car would be a bad idea?

I often read on here people saying an intake does nothing except make noise on this car. One thing to remember on any forum is that something is written, then parroted and then becomes gospel.

Yes there are more cost effective ways to make power with this car, but few are easier and there are other benefits like noise and looks. And yes, intakes make power in an 86. Read the article

Dude I have an Injen intake just sitting in the trunk because I have heard so much about how "it's not worth it" "it's all on the tune"

I was supposed to install it a week ago, but my feelings tell me the K & N drop in i have is better.
