Technically it was roughly 15 years, but the mazdaspeed miata were built in so few numbers so I can see why some may have forgotten about them. Funny enough, it has been 15 years since it was last made and peak horsepower has only increased by 3 when compared to the ND2.

You are right though that Mazda has been stingy with the output increases. Mazda missed their chance when they still had the rotary in production or when mazda essentially canned the idea of a mazdaspeed NC based on the super20 concept due to the economic downturn.

The G16E-GTS is 109kg dry vs. 171kg for the FA20 assuming I was looking at the right variant.

Here's the technical breakdown for the G16.
https://toyota-club.net/files/faq/20...-engine_en.htm

I do like the G16 a lot, but I am very partial to NA motors so I'm fine with the FA24. Peak horsepower probably wouldn't even be all that different anyways since the U.S. would likely get the 257hp version for emissions compliance.

Anyways, I do hope to see the motor brought over to the states in some sort of GR model.

Not so much the 86/BRZ, as I think they have invested so much into this cars platform to be based around the boxer, but for OTHER applications that toyota work with it might be cool.

Like imagine the next gen Lotus Elise running one of these babies. What a featherweight BEAST that would be.

You would save a good 35 pounds from the supercharged 2zz it runs in race spec.
