I ended up getting the dealer to replace the condenser at a reasonable price, no need to use insurance. As a preventative measure I added some black zip ties in the grill to hopefully prevent this from happening in the future. I could add more but this should be adequate Grill Zipties

Yes, it's a 2018. I'd consider an aftermarket one for the '17+ BRZ if it had better coverage, but I don't see much selection out there.

Anything that hits those zip ties at speed will just break them and enter your condenser anyway. Look into grill mesh if you're that concerned about debris. Or get a Tesla

Same happened to my condenser last summer, had it replaced at a performance shop that does all work on my car that I can't do myself.
