Hold them responsible. If they will not make it good talk to your local Better Business Bureau. All of these issues are on them.
The repair was out of pocket but I'll be stopping by sometime this week to talk to them. They did a pretty shit job of aligning my rear bumper.

Yep, I agree ...... if tape will pull the paint off ...... sooner or later the rest of the paint will come off.

I'd suggest that you have them strip the paint off the bumper, prep it proper and repaint it.

But he screwed himself sticking tape on there. The body shop can now say, well he shoulda came by and we'd put the light back in on us. Now they can say, he put tape on the paint and peeled it off, probably after sitting in the hot sun and this is what happend.

No amount of hot sun should do that to a fresh coat of paint unless it was literally day after. Even then. Id just fight for my money back and take it somewhere else not deal with thee guys again if possible,

I agree with the majority of the posters on the thread.

See if they'll fix it since THEY lost the side marker. You could even say while installing the side marker you had to replace the paint came off if you think they'll try to blame you for taping it.. Regardless, they did not do a good job and as a business should make it right.

To answer your question, I don't think is a very easy way to do this yourself w/o making it look worse. Not discrediting your body shop skills lol just think it'd be a pain to match. That's why shops remove and paint the whole bumper (at least they should )

Any body shop that just throws paint on without prep is a moron body shop. You can't paint bare plastic like that and it looks like what they did

It can make it super duper sticky all it wants but if 3m double sided tape does not pull up paint then painters tape will deff not no matter how much sunlight it sees thats the point im making. But we both I think agree that this body shop was a bunch of morons and no way should be in business if this is the type of stuff the put out.

Don't know how I missed this before but "new bumper" my ass!
To the best of my knowledge new bumpers do not come with huge scrapes pre applied.

If the paint wasn't heat cured in their oven (costs to run the oven) they may risk it and let it dry naturally. Looks like there may not be any plastic primer or no flex additive in the paint. Either way they should guarantee their work. If they don't re do it ask the owner the name of his lawyer so your lawyer can contact his. If you paid by credit card contact them and cancel payment.

it looks like the paint job wasn't very good for tape to take it right off.

you can try to have someone spot painted than sand down once paint settles 100%. than gloss coat the whole bumper to make it less noticeable, but it's recommend by almost all bl paint shop to repaint the whole thing for a solid paint job
