I mean that's right from the presentation you linked. The evidence just isn't there yet to convince me. Hospitalization rate doesn't appear to change and the only real data appears to support older people (65+) getting boosters.
It wasn't intended to convince you of anything. Just providing the information. It shows the VE reduction over time by age group. The CDC doesn't recommend one way or another that younger healthy adults get a booster. It provides data for you to weigh the risks and decide for yourself.

As for why someone might choose get a booster shot:
Even if people aren't hospitalized, catching it takes them out of commission for a week and I hear it's very unpleasant based on firsthand accounts. Also, I don't think we know yet how the original doses vs boosters handle omicron, but past experience would indicate that getting a booster gives that person greater protection.

That was my parents experience as well, no side effects. Their response to the original doses were pretty mild though, while I was very sick for a few days. My brother and his girlfriend had a quite severe response the first go around and they are getting their boosters sometime soon I think. Going to let them go first to see what I'm in for lol.

My reactions to the first 2 shots were so mild that they may have been psychosomatic. I did have some soreness in the shoulder blade area though as did a friend of mine. A couple of know it alls told me it wasn't possible however.

Yeah I'm not too worried about any effects. The first dose for me was the worst, but only as arm soreness the likes of which I haven't really had with flu shots. It lasted like 3-4 days. Second dose was ezpz as far as I can remember. Maybe a little more tiredness than usual (could've also been work stress).

Oh, what's one more piece of "sludge" -

I got booster shot on Monday, I went with J&J after receiving my first two doses back in March from Pfizer. I was out of commission yesterday. I could feel it late at night on Monday; slight headache, shivers, mild fever. The next day it was body aches, headaches, and felt tired. Feel a lot better today except for a slight back-ache, but that is just me 24/7. I think I've gotten more, if not the same, side effects whenever I decided to skip a flu shot and get it the next year. The only bad thing about this is that our company does not offer an option to cover lost hours because of side effects of the booster/vax. Other than that, all good now.

Good on you for getting your booster -

Yep, now you know it's working.

Hell, I feel that way every day -

I went for my booster at Walgreens after scheduling on line and they wouldn't do it because I was 3 days short of 6 months.

That sounds kind of dumb, but I'm sure there a perfectly unreasonable bureaucratic explanation.

Bureaucracy is a multi-edged weapon. It can get repetitive, mundane things done relatively effectively. But if a situation comes up outside the exact definition of the scope of the rules it can make a resolution impossible.
