My wife and I have been quarantining until our test results. This evening one of her coworkers needed something and told her from the front lawn if we need hydrochloroquine or ivermectin ‘my brother got me some from Mexico.’

Yaaaa!.......today my 5 year old granddaughter got her first COVID shot - .

That means all of us-ens and of our kids and grandkids are all shot up (except #2 for the 5 ager), including boosters.

That's a relief for me.

I am hoping that Covid slowly evolves to being the common cold, literally. The common cold happens to also be of the corona virus variety for any that didn't know.

Contemplating whether or not to get my booster as I have yet to see convincing evidence on the reduction of risk in younger people and last I checked the mrna 2 series gives a degree of memory immunity.

Anyone have any good studies?

With the temporary block of the CMS mandate for hospitals, my Healthcare System late last week put a hold on their mandate that was to start 12/6 after going to the trouble of getting everybody either proof of vaccination, or a religious/medical exemption.

I'm OK with the decision (I'm not a fan of the mandate) but given they had already gone to all the trouble to alienate those that would be alienated and set up testing for those that got an exemption, I could have seen a reasonable path to staying the course.

I guess we'll see where it goes. If there's another large surge, I suspect they'll implement it regardless of the court standing. Nearly every hospital system in Atlanta already has the mandate in place.

CDC has a PDF describing the evidence they are using to recommend boosters. You can find it at this page (link in page, scroll to data supporting section):
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...ster-shot.html

Right now, they are recommending people over 65 or with underlying conditions get it, and are allowing all other adults to get it at their own discretion. Looking at the charts in the PDF, it looks like efficacy decreases in a similar manner for all age groups.

"Hospitalization due to COVID-19
– No hospitalizations due to COVID-19 occurred in the booster (3-dose)
or placebo (2-dose) groups
▪ Death due to COVID-19
– No deaths due to COVID-19 occurred in the booster (3-dose)
or placebo (2-dose) groups"

I mean that's right from the presentation you linked. The evidence just isn't there yet to convince me. Hospitalization rate doesn't appear to change and the only real data appears to support older people (65+) getting boosters.

I'm signed up for my booster on 12/16. I've been 50/50 on whether I should get it as well. I guess while the positive may be much less substantive than the first two rounds, I also don't really see a downside other than additional sludge running through my system.

I got my booster as soon as it was available (Pfizer). I had zero side effects, not even a sore arm. I've pretty much already decided I'll take every booster offered because I've had previous respiratory illnesses and the thought of ending up with a strong case of COVID-19 scares me more than any argument against it.
