MeisterR ClubRace Coilovers: Affordable Track Focused Suspension
We have been working on few new project here at MeisterR.
One of the most common request we get is an affordable track focused suspension that concentrate on stiffer springs rate and maximise damper stroke travel. The result is the MeisterR ClubRace coilovers. 86 ClubRace Specification: *Springs Rate: Front: 8kg/mm (446lb/in), Rear: 8kg/mm (446lb/in). *Aluminium Front Top Mount with Spherical Bearing and Camber Adjustment. *Aluminium Extended Rear Top Mount with Spherical Bearing. *Monotube damper with 32 stage damping adjustment (Compression and Rebound Combined) *Linear Rate SAE9254 Chrome Silicon Steel Springs. *Springs Coil Noise Insulator. *Lengthen Heavy Duty Rubber boot. *Unique UK Patent Pending Non-Slip Aluminium Spring Perch & Locking Collar. *Dual Perch Coilovers Construction (Independent Springs Tension and Ride Height Setting) ClubRace Design Note: The main focus is to provide a versatile suspension setup that will work well with sticky tire compound, such as BFGoodrich Rival S or the Bridgestone RE71R. The higher springs rate along with revised damper valving are designed to push the tires down and get them to heat up to generate traction. The dampers are match specifically to the springs rate, and user would be expected to use the top 5 clicks of the damping adjustment on most track. Another focus is to achieve as much damper stroke travel as possible for this application. By using an extended rear top mount, we are able to maintain both good ride height adjustment as well as compression travel. This will allow the suspension to provide great compliancy especially going over rough patch such as rumble strip while on throttle. The final point is affordability. The entire ClubRace setup as you see above with top mount, fully assembled ready for installation out of the box, with 1 year warranty will be $1,195 delivered. If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know. Jerrick |

I don't know a lot about suspension but as someone who is a novice track day participant the price point looks appealing. I'm definitely interested...
How do these affect the ride height? |

Due to the stiffer springs rate, it wouldn't go as low as the ZetaCRD coilovers. However, should have no problem reaching the ride height shown. (OEM top, MeisterR Coilovers on the bottom). Picture credit goes to StraightOuttaCanadaEh as the car looks awesome. Jerrick |

Tax season can't come soon enough! These look great and so does the pricepoint.

Vey nice. A few questions.
1)These are much less expensive than other track focused coilovers. How were you able to achieve your price point? What compromises were made? 2)Can you comment on the road comfort of these compared to other options? 3)Can you share shock dyno plots? 4)What is the highest these can be set? What is the available droop at that height? 5)At the lowest recommended adjustment point what is the available shock travel? |

Basically, it is a ZetaCRD with its springs rate and damper valving push upward, and other physical parts necessary (such as extended top mount) to make the entire setup work. The ClubRace aren't fancy custom build suspension, and does not use precision CNC made internal. They are simply suspension that are specified to do track work and will work well. 2. The ClubRace is a track suspension because the springs rate is so stiff, with wheel frequency pushing over the 2.5Hz mark. I know some people do use such high springs rate for road use, but dynamically I find that scary and wouldn't recommend. I am sure it is "bearable" on softer damping setting, but I would only recommend this for more focused track use simply because of the stiff springs rate. 3. The ClubRace is base off our CRD (Close Ratio Damping) valving. Just like the ZetaCRD, they tend to have around a 3:1 damping ratio, and in a typical "shield shape" graph. The main focus with the ClubRace is to really matching the paired springs rate to the critical damping force at the top end of the damping adjustment, as the less bleed a damper run the better it perform. The ClubRace dampers are designed to run near full stiff on track, I would expect user to be within the top 5 clicks of the damping adjustment. Here is a picture of the CRD valving to give a rough idea what the curve and shape will look like. 4 / 5. As this is a dual perch design, ride height are adjusted via the lower bracket. What that mean is ride height do not affect the travel ratio. Lowering will not reduce compression travel, raising the car will not affect droop travel. So at any ride height, you will about 40mm of droop travel. You can increase droop travel by incorporating a helper springs, but of course you will reduce compression travel by the same amount. The limit is really the rear, and you have about 1.5" up or down from the out o the box setting, so quite a wide range. The total travel is 120mm front (4.72"), and 105mm rear (4.13") Hope that helps, any other questions please ask away. Jerrick Last edited by MeisterR; 10-20-2017 at 07:38 PM. |
