Come on mate, don't let commonsense or logic get in the way of a good story.

1.5T with an electric motor aid all to the rear, effectively giving it more torque and power. Oh and good mileage.

the 2.4 makes sense with what others were saying before regarding emissions control. it's subaru's newest motor, and most likely to have the least teething issues to be brought into compliance in any format.

I'd be ok with a lightly revised fa20 (more revs, no torque dip, whatever can be done) and some electric motors for efficiency/torque. Only problem with going with a hybrid is the weight imo. I really can't wait to see what they do since there's actually quite a few options.

The FA20 seemed to have a very short run and also considering it is only being used on the 86/BRZ.
I wouldn't be surprised if they put in a revised FA20 (10hp bump) in the 2nd gen to get a better ROI. The FA24 is being utilized in the Outback and Legacy, so no issues with that engine being under utilized. |

So i got a question. we are mainly thinking in terms of US market and all that.
in Japan isnt there some sort of restriction on engine displacement for tax bracketing? So while im over here with a few others saying Yeah just use the FA24 and itll be gud they'd have to engineer that engine specifically for our markets. and put a smaller one in theirs. right? Or am I thinking completely wrong and after the kei car thing it doesnt matter? |

Am I the only that wouldn't mind a hybrid Toyota 86 ? I'm sure they will offer it as a option either way with the petrol. Not to mention there will probably be a GR version of the 86. Nothing worries me we still have our Gen 1's to enjoy either way if this things totally blows so their is that.

I agree with this, and concerning Subaru, I’m not sure how much they “wanted to” as opposed to Toyota saying “hey this car is going to happen if you want our support” And Subaru loves making quirky cars, the SVX, the Baja, the Brat. They love that stuff, and I love them for it. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
