Picture of the peashooter chosen to do the job.

This is a Dual Ball Bearing Garrett Unit. Comes w/ the internal gate, but dont' know that it will end up that way.

Personally would like to see a turbo that spools like a factory subaru yet still has top end the reason i got this car was for linear power, that's one thing I gave up on my tc, I stomp the gas the the 60-1 kicks in around 4300 hard I like that for a weekend warrior , but for the frs I want linear smooth power

In which case a supercharger would be the best way to go. that's what i'm waiting for

For the price a Garrett bb cost you might wanna look into the Borg Warner EFR series those things spool so fast like factory and are reliable, built in bov and electric boost control it's just an amazing turbo

I'm doing the same thing over here in Australia, running the new garrett gtx3071r with a tial exhaust housing, it's a bit oversized for the amount of boost il be running (7psi) until cp finishes their low comp pistons and rods. Expecting around 400hp in the end.

what kind of powerband gains are you targeting Don? Care to share your chosen compressor map?

I ask, because at the moment im talking with lots of turbo builders for this particular engine..and everyone's thoughts are on very far ends of the spectrum. It would be nice to know that someone out there is trying to build a purchasable turbo kit, built, priced, and proven for the average blue collar Joe, which the FRS-BRZ target market was originally made for.

Id be a shame to see shops miss the mark on this car because its easy to get caught up on the idea that customers want POWER and they will pay a premium for it. When i fear this isn't the case for this particular car.

Anyway, keep up the good work! cant wait to see more pictures, especially your chosen turbo location and compressor outlet clocking solution.

I like the EFR turbos, but they are pricey and the packaging sucks. Those things are huge, and space is not on your side with the FRS. Would be sick though.

They also like being cranked on to much. This is not going to work on this engine. Another reason I stray from BW turbos. ?
