Well, that was actually pretty cool. Racing was tight and the cars are pretty evenly matched. Changing cars at midway point when the batteries run down was really different, but I wonder what the costs are for having to run 2 cars at each race is.

Was surprised top see some big name owners involved in this and some big name drivers from other auto series driving.

Some of the owners: Michael Andretti, Alain Prost, Richard Branson

Drivers: Nelson Piquet Jr., Scott Speed, Nick Prost, Jean-Eric Vergne, Bruno Senna, Jarno Trulli, Nick Heidfeld

Next race April 4 at Long Beach.

Böring. Nothing to see here. F1 as we knew it is gone.

That wasn't even a race after the first lap. When are they going to realize the more and more restrictions they put on (fuel, KERS, etc) the less exciting the racing becomes? I miss the scream of those old engines, the races that actually had a chance at a different winner every now and then. Seems this year the only thing to watch is whether Hamilton or Rosberg will win. No one else even seems to be in their class. And here I was excited that Vettel made the jump to Ferrari...

Yes, we stayed up. We watch all of the races live. Disappointing for us as our favorate Terry Bottas couldn't race.

Our feelings also. I have not found a single person that likes the new turbo V-6. Really miss the good old days.

I'll still keep watching F1 because I can't stand NASCAR, but I'm certainly not AS excited about this season as I was last year. I am still excited for LeMans, hopefully that doesn't dissapoint.

After taking last year off from watching Formula 1 (mostly), I a quite interested after the first race. I haven't seen attrition like this since the olden days; it is nothing new, just something that has been missing for a while that adds a new dimension to this era. Yes, Mercedes won today, but there was a lot of potential seen in the rest of the field, and some exiting new drivers. Single team domination? Yep, seen that before too, and you can still have good racing for the other places.

I always thought the engineers and especially the designers made the difference with dominant cars, but I am beginning to suspect that Niki Lauda is the one in the Mercedes team that is taking them from great to ridiculously good.

There's nothing wrong with turbo 6 idea. The problem is with the restrictions on the fuel flow and engine durability.

BMWs M12 engine was a turbo 4 cylinder. It sounded beastly and in qualifying spec could make 1400 hp... The difference between then and now is they get 5 engines for the year, where the M12 would do 10 quali laps then explode.

Those, my friends, were the good old days.
