The better question is how many are running that have done the recall?

That answer is none, they have all blown up.

though it is debatable whether personally correcting an open recall notice on a vehicle is legally allowed.

Not all. Recall +100000 miles and still doing OK.

It's likely legal...but doing it yourself won't mark it as completed in the VIN record....

When I received the recall notice the dealer informed me that having an HKS Supercharger on the car will add around $500 for extra labour. Since I have never seen any valve spring breakage reported but have seen engine failures reported after the recall job,I opted NOT to have it done. I'm at 80K km with zero engine issues and an extra $565 ($500 + 13% tax) in my pocket for necessary future service needs.

Has anyone run into resale issues when trying to sell one of these with the recall still open against it? Quick search shows that it varies by state whether a car dealership can sell a used car with recalls open against it. So if a dealer did their due diligence (ha, imagine that) then I could see them valuing a car differently depending.

I got my 2012 done and the dealership broke my transmission and tried to blame me for it. Was never the same since.

Nice, 94k miles helps the confidence of not doing the recall! Are you FI or NA?
