What turn did the STI go off at? Looks like it would've been a hell of a hit.

Anyone else notice all the stuff that looks like it's just loose in his back seat? SO many things wrong with how that event ran.

Glad I wasn't the only one who pointed this out PRE collision, they were taking turns with three different drivers with this car.

Yup, saw that also. All loose items should be removed, even at other events organizers request that but some drivers just don't do it for whatever reason (probably being lazy).

Don't the organizers conduct a check of each car first like an Auto-X event?

I guess when they get into an STI they think they are invincible or something. I saw a new blue one in front of me that almost smacked the side of the 401 to 404 ramp just the other week.

Rules aren't ever enforced at Touge days, I'm surprised some tracks still let them come back. IIRC they got a nice yelling at from CTMP for running the DDT backwards after being explicitly told they couldn't do that.

I'm surprised the next event they have at the DDT, use of a helmet is a *recommendation* (excluding roadsters/convertibles).

Yeah I won't be attending another Touge event. The event was run too loosely for my taste and I saw a lot of potential problems that shouldn't have even been there. To name a few:

Too many cars on track at once.
Not waiting for signal to pass, especially divebombing corners.
Letting people on track when it wasn't clear.
People crossing the line at pit-out.

And no signs anyone was reprimanded for anything.

I think he crashed at turn 7 or maybe 8 but I'm not entirely sure because I wasn't close enough. Shannonville is a terrible track have an off on with deep ruts on the sides of the course in places where going off is most likely to happen. I can definitely see that if you've lost balance and go sideways into one of those ruts, you'd roll over.

The ruts there are deadly, I have my own story from the evening. I turned in too early at turn 3a and ended up tracking out a bit too far. I thought I was going to be OK but I was wrong, my rear passenger side wheel dropped into the dirt and there is a deep rut right there and when the tire came back up, the rear went weightless and I spun. Thankfully no damage and no one was hurt but still a rough time. I made it a point to inspect my wheels after that but they look fine, no cracks or scratches.

Those are some of the reasons that I'm nervous to go to track events, especially considering that I'm a novice. That STI seemed to hold up relatively well (cosmetically anyway) considering ended up on its roof. Any word on the driver?

Sign up for a track day school, there's one coming up next Tuesday but not sure if it's all booked.

^^ This, or one of the SPDA days on the DDT. Those shenanigans won't fly there! Bonus points, you might get me as an instructor

That's their policy at every track...

It was my first time at the track, but I came in with expectation to learn and not to post the fastest lap.

Regarding safety of the vent: The first half of the day was ok. and I found most drivers to be respectful but .... aside from the cayman driver and couple of the bmw guys... some passing 3 wide around turns. I think the signaling rule went out the window at 60% mark.

couple of laps before the crash people were trying to stay away from the STi driver, no one knew what they were doing.
