I get this from the new kid at work. Drives me crazy so I just try to ignore him.

He is into mustanks after all.

I know what you mean. Just I think they're a right way to start a convo than dissing on any car. He could say "Oh you're car guy? What do you think of Supra/Corvette (or whatever car he knows)?" From there, we can discuss more.

I used to educate ppl... but after a while, gave up. Sometimes, I use total car-terminology to make em confuse to end the discussion quicker

I wish, I can ignore em... but again, I do wear some car related shirts to work, so half my fault I guess.

Well, the company called me. I'm quite torn after the phone call we had.

On one hand, this position sounds like a bit of a step back, and there was an awfully uncomfortable silence after they asked what my expected salary was.

On the other, it's a foot in the door at a place that likes to hire from within (the reason I didn't get the other position I interview for in August). And I could probably live with the position for a little while as I wait for a better opening to come up.

I'm going to interview in person and if I get the offer, I'll decide once I see what they're willing to give me.

Lots of things to consider in the next week and a half or so.

Good luck Spike.
Well, I have experience with that already. I commuted for part of my internship and then the first two years that I was full time, since our main office is in SF near Caltrain.

Yes, it took way too much time out of my day.

So what I’m thinking I’ll do is move up the peninsula closer to somewhere like San Mateo or Millbrae so that the train ride becomes a 20-30 minute trip each way.

Downside is losing my relatively cheap rent-controlled apartment. But it’s a super old place that isn’t as comfortable for me anymore like it was while I was a student. I’m ready for a nicer place if I can get one.

Haha I doubt that's true, but I suppose there are many factors involved in a good response time. Mine is 3 minutes but I live in a suburban almost city 3 blocks from the fire station.

Never comprise. I only go for plus monies. Then again maybe that's why I'm not working for an airline...

For sure. I don't like the thought of taking a step back in pay. But, the position I want (and am more than capable of getting, providing a spot gets opened up for it) would be a 20-30k pay bump for me.

I knew I should have taken the headhunters offer last year. Ah well, hoping that the wife is successful in getting accepted to her Physicians Assistant program in university for next year and we can move wherever we want in North America, since American companies have reached out to me a few times in the last two years. Here's to hoping we can move to a state with CC laws.
