Isn't that pretty much any car that's more than a few years old? It's pretty rare that any car sold is "factory original".

(and yes I know what you mean)

Similar however in my case opposite experience, i.e. at the time I made my purchase in 2017 I initially didn’t really care Toyota or Subaru - was treated poorly (price & otherwise) at more than one Toyota dealership, I moved on.
Called Subaru of America’s 800#, got a list of BRZs in transit locally, contacted one of the dealership and got the price/deal I wanted zero hassle. Immediately put down a small deposit, two weeks later my BRZ came off the truck w/ ~5 miles on the OD, and closed the deal same day. The end.

Nope, the kid is all about Subaru and doesn't like Toyota.
Also, I don't care for the "Collector Car" marketing term "tribute". Its their way of legitimizing a collection of mismatched parts so they can charge BIG $$$'s for something that shouldn't exist.
How about clone?

I would have no issues making a clone of a great car that an original may be difficult to afford.

That green ford Mustang from Bullet or a 73 911 RS. Can’t touch originals. But you can make one fairly reasonable and enjoy the process.

Clone of a TS, not really the same, but if someone did it, I would be fine with it.

As far as resell, everyone knows it’s not the real thing, but can be just as enjoyable.
