Cool info. It'd be interesting to see the difference between how a BRZ handles and FR-S. Looks like could just be suspension setup?

I believe we've already discussed (over and over) that this car will not have the low grumble sound characteristic to Subaru's boxer engine since it will have equal length headers.

I'm pretty sure equal length headers are better for power production...yes?

Properly matched tube diameter, primary length, secondary length, port pairing, collector design, etc. are all major factors. An equal length header in a naturally aspirated application will always make more power, assuming the collector, tube lengths and all other metrics were equal. OEM's have to compromise all of these factors, due to production costs and emissions. The catalytic converter must be close enough to the exhaust ports to light off and stay hot...
We will see what the aftermarket header companies come out with, maybe I will do some development with John over at Hy-Tech like we did on the F20C/F22C long tube header. By the time that header was finished it was about 1/3 of the length of the car. |
