Anybody running conversion spacers?

I pulled off some TE37's off a friends R33 this morning to find out that the wheel cast has a 5x100 stamp on it. I got pretty excited but when I checked the sticker on the backspacing it said 5x114.3 -This made sense as my knowledge with the skyline is that it does not have a 5x100 bolt pattern. With a little bit of hope still, I tried to test fit it on my car anyways since I couldn't find a tape measure around but came to the sad conclusion that it indeed wouldn't fit. They are 17x9.5 +12 all around.

I'm not knowledgable in this area and I'm hoping somebody with experience can help me figure this out. Also, I should note, I was basically offered the wheels if they would fit onto the car. My question is... Should I run conversion spacers? Is it safe? will it bring issues? will this size and offset specifically even 'work'? (if anybody has ever tried before). Maybe it's my paranoia, but any feedback would be appreciated. If all I have to do is buy some adapters to make em fit, I don't mind having some fresh Volk's on my car.

Selling them and purchasing wheels in 5x100's is not an option. If they were to sell, then the proceeds would go back into the shop. Just an fyi.

Any adapter you will will lower the offset. It also depends on what type of fitment you want.

An 11mm project kid adapter would reduce the offset the least, but you'll have to shave your stock studs because they will hit the back of the wheel. With an 11mm adapter your wheels would become 17x9.5 +1

An 15mm adapter would essentially be the same, however its more aggressive, and you'd still be shaving your stock studs. Your wheels would be 17x9.5 -3

A 25mm adapter would be big, but however you will NOT have to shave your stock studs. However it will be a huge amount of poke. Your wheels would be 17x9.5 -13

Don't adapters, in adding length to the hub offset, add more stress onto the wheel bearings?

yes (basically same as large spacers)

Currently I have running 25mm spacers with the conversion to 5x114.3
18x10.5 +22 rear
18x9.5 +34 front

I'm running 11mm Project Kics adapters. Everything @PradiG stated is valid. And yes, you will need to trim your stock studs.

This is a common misconception. Wheel bearings have a tendency to fail prematurely when you install spacers and/or wheels that are not hub-centric to our cars. This causes an uneven stress once the wheels begin to rotate, essentially wearing the bearings out of round.

Stay hub-centric for both the spacer to hub and spacer to wheel and you will have no issues.

I run 25mm conversion spacers...hub centric. Zero issues and been approx 1k miles.
