Supposably from factory the 2014+ got larger oil galleries from the factory.
To prevent oil starvation

Is this true?

I have 0 experience with failed transmissions but doesn't that look kind of melted rather than sheared or worn?

It does look melted like the gears spun against each other, where just the tips were rubbing

What will you use as your FD? I just looked up the ratios on the 350z and unless you change the FD your going to have some crazy short gears, especially with the power you’re making.

Yeah I already looked up those numbers and at a glance it looked like it would have a larger impact. I just threw the numbers into a calculator and the top speeds per gear aren’t as far off as I thought they would be. Even stock seems a little short for big power though. Seems like somewhere down the road it wouldn’t hurt to go with a lower FD.
