exterior temp. gauge off?

I'm not really complaining here but has anyone else notice if their exterior temperature gauge was off? We've been having a cold front for the last week or so with temperature ranging from -17 to -20 and just this morning, it was -18 as per weather network and also on my phone, but in the car it shows -13… It's really not -13, it's way more cold! And my car's sitting outside all night.

That's funny. My reading was at -13 this morning too, even though it feels like -20. My car's also been outside all night.

I'm not sure about mine...maybe I should look at it once in a while.

Strange enough...MINE was reading -13 as well this morning! I have noticed more than once, that the temp gauge is not extremely accurate.

I have had my FR-S since summer and the temp has always been 2-3 degrees high. It is worse if the engine is warm.

I think I read somewhere in the manual saying that the temp guage is not always accurate especially when at idle or something. I'm too lazy to go read it right now though..

At start-up my exterior temp gauge will always be wildly (+10 degrees sometimes) off and it slowly creeps back in the proper direction as the car warms. Even at normal engine operating temperature though and 10 - 15 minutes of regular driving, it will often be off by a few degrees (days like yesterday and today especially).

I checked mine this morning. It was reading -21, and the local radio station was saying -23.
