Just curious if the mindset is as different as I heard or if they really feel the same way.
I don't live in Japan, but drive 86's in Japan quite often (most recently one week ago), have many friends with 86's there, and am part of a Japanese 86 club. The power is completely fine for Japanese roads.
The fun roads are extremely technical, and the highways have low speed limits.
The only people I hear complain about the 86's power are generally people who live in areas with lots of straight roads and no very technical tight roads. Not one of my friends feel the car is underpowered, but many of them also come from owning original Hachiroku.
In terms of American areas, places that have a mixture of city streets and tight technical mountain roads are well suited to the 86. An area like that is Southern California, and many owners find the power level of the 86 well suited to this area too.

JDM non Keyless alarm/beep

Hello all,

I recently bought a JDM 2015 BRZ S, but I just want to confirm with you Japanese fam to see if your cars beep or horn when locked? I keep finding myself forgetting where I parked at times and there is no car finder function!!!
Also, am I the only one without the Panic button?

Thanks.

Congrats!

There are some pretty large 86/BRZ clubs out that way and toward Kyoto/Osaka. Definitely recommend making an Instagram for your car, loads of people organize that way out there in JP.

Thanks! Yeah I noticed quite a number of 86s here where I live actually. Was wondering if there was some clubs around here, but my Japanese is too bad to be able to really communicate much at the moment.

Don't worry about not being able to communicate. Most people with 86/BRZ's out there I've met are 100% fine with chatting with Google or Line Translate. Granted I have more experience meeting people in the Tokyo area, but also have met some from Kansai and they were all friendly.

I figured they might be fine with translating with Google or Line as with a few of my friends here do, which makes things so much easier. Well hopefully I can find or run into a few people with 86/BRZ's 😅

I was surprised, a lot of people don't seem to mind it or like to make the effort so they can work on their English.

I took a quick look through my IG following list and found a few that you could follow on IG and see if they post about club meetings:

https://www.instagram.com/yamato_86_ (followed him a while, he's in Kyoto I think and attends some meets)
https://www.instagram.com/jiffuv3kazn8 (met him IRL outside of Osaka Auto Messe back in 2020)
https://www.instagram.com/86_valenti (in Gifu, so closer to Nagoya)

These are just a few, once you find some you'll find a lot more, that's how I found so many .

Good luck!

Yeah I do believe alot of them like to try and work on their English which is pretty nice.

Thanks! I'll definitely check them out and see what's going on.
