Why does USDM model get the smaller muffler tips?

Why does USDM model get the smaller muffler tips compared to the JDM version? Is there a legal reason behind this or something?

USDM FR-S

JDM BRZ/86

Most likely cost along with the ideology that most owners that get this car will change parts out fairly quickly from the show room. Ex: Greddy FRS

Cost savings probably. I'm fine with it, they're just tips. Pipes are the same.

Looks like cost mainly... The frs is the cheapest one of the two, we know that from the interior options and the exterior is the same way....

The USDM BRZ also has small tips though. Since the BRZ is supposed to be the high-spec model, do you think it's really because of the cost?

US gets 3 more horsepower from the exhaust system, so that is a benefit

It's not just the pictures.

Go to the scion website and download their high res photos, and you'll see that the exhaust tips on the FR-S are slightly oval while the ones on the JDM cars are round.

Really? You think it's just the tips? It's not.

The exhaust is slightly different and produces 3hp more over the jdm. Tip size is smaller due to us law according to Toyota.

The jdm one fits the bodywork better but I'm fine with the us one too

You are 100 percent correct....And the FR-S is the same as the BRZ premium except for the premium has HIDs and Navigation. Interior quality is exactly the same.

That is BS about the tips being to big for the US regulations. The G37 have big tips.
