Oil Pan Seal Rings

Pulled my pan to weld on turbo oil drain, installed it and don't seem to have any problems. However, another thread in here made me check the factory service manual, and I found this

I did not install these 2 "oil pan seal rings". What are they for, and do I need to pull the pan again?

I re-used mine since they were not included in the OEM’s re-build gasket kit.
After all, any oil leaking past them just ends up in the oil pan, where it is destined anyway.

Don't underestimate the siphoning action at work. That's the whole point of those drain tubes. They cost money to make and should not be neglected.

On top of that, imo it isn't worth trashing your engine to save on 10$ of oem parts.

Yup. I reviewed my post. Not to you, but I may not have adequately described my intent in saying "they cost money."

Nothing is added without good reason. When the purpose of a part, or subsystem in this case, isn't clear to the owner, the correct decision is to assume that it's important.
