I'm not against electric cars, teslas are really fun to drive and neat tech, but... this idea that they somehow are planet saviors is absurd. Between the fossil fuels and environmental damage required for production, the most coal powered electricity (also an extremely inefficient way to transfer power as it has to travel over long electric lines that loose power and batteries that drain power when sitting), and then the environmental impacts of disposing of the batteries... these things are not good for the environment. I cringe when I hear people say they are or that driving one somehow helps prevent global warming.
Not to say there are no benefits of electric cars. They do reduce gasoline demand and shift it to coal which is a great economic boost to impoverished coal mining communities. They also allow you to reduce air pollution in your neighborhood (by increasing it in someone else's). Also helps with traffic by utilizing the HOV lanes here in california that would otherwise go unused.

Dead batteries are easily recycled. The electrolyte just needs to be reprocessed and the metal membranes for the anode/cathode need to be replaced. Even with that it's more efficient and less expensive (and uses less materials) than making the batteries in the first place.

Sooner or later we will start to run out of liquid dinosaur. Having the 90%+ of the population that only cares about getting to work on time driving around in electric cars instead of Nissan rogues and rav4s will reduce demand a huge amount.

As for charging, the most likely solution in Europe will be streetside charging, not too dissimilar to the way parking meters are set up now. In the US, a more likely fix will be incentivizing employers to build charging stations at their offices/jobsites. This will keep charging fairly local and reduce demand for large quickcharge networks, which have throughput issues. Those will only be needed for longer trips.

The new Honda E looks really cool. RWD, rear motor and 220lbft of torque out of a fiesta sized car? Sounds pretty cool for a commuter car. Being a Honda I'm sure there will be a ton of suspension mods available too. Shame its not coming to the US (Where no one will buy an EV unless it can go 300 miles on a single charge, even though more Americans own homes than Europeans and would be charging every night anyway...)

An EV daily would also mean supercharging and guilt-free tracking the BRZ

Yes, the Honda E, started life as a really cool design (retro/modern)... Sadly it looks pretty sad now.....didn't appreciate that it is a RWD, will check it out.

I can't see drivers wanting to change batteries every 5years or so.. big expense for a 2nd or 3rd owner. It'll hurt the low income families. Not the person buying the car new, they use the car for the best years of the batteries life, then out it goes much like any other 'white' good.. for the low income person to sweep up...

Wait are you calling that riced? I’m sure the hood is somewhat necessary for the turbo. Maybe not the widebody, but looks fine to me. Would actually like to see more of it lol

Must try harder... BTW, the engine of the turbocharged thingy was a mess, all of the inner wings had been removed... I suppose to help cool the thing.

And it still looks like a poorly animated Volkswagen Golf from the latest "Cars" movie to me.

I can‘t even get mad about rice any more.

If it‘s all that some kid who is trying to be into cars can muster, I mean, ok?

Also, ricing for irony is kind of fun. My dad was a master of it and good lord he would nail it every time.
