hm... I'm guessin' on White Comet might be right.
Lotus Elise/Exige didn't change the Engine's name even Toyota engine, so I don't see why Toyota need to change the Subaru special engine.

...at the same time Madator got some good point too.

in the helicopter world, H engines are named O in the engine code.

Makes me smile till it hurts!

Ohh and btw hand is healing up well! I can drive my car for 5 mins...then i have to pop like 3 percocets lol!

That's no reason for them to forgo the name of the block. They'll just add some alphanumerical designate after the "EJ" to indicate it has DI.

The "E" is the indication of Subaru engines. The next letter just symbolizes a different generation of engines. So far there are the following engine classes for 4 cylinder horizontally opposed gasoline engines: EA, EJ, EL, and EN. If they are going to reuse their naming scheme, I'm going to guess the new engine maybe called EL20 as it is the newest engine class to the Subaru family.
