hm... I'm guessin' on White Comet might be right.
Lotus Elise/Exige didn't change the Engine's name even Toyota engine, so I don't see why Toyota need to change the Subaru special engine. ...at the same time Madator got some good point too. |

The "E" is the indication of Subaru engines. The next letter just symbolizes a different generation of engines. So far there are the following engine classes for 4 cylinder horizontally opposed gasoline engines: EA, EJ, EL, and EN. If they are going to reuse their naming scheme, I'm going to guess the new engine maybe called EL20 as it is the newest engine class to the Subaru family.
