Toyota's stated in a press conference that it will be using an Aisin tranny.

Well for starters that both cars would most likely share transm. due to it being a 'joint collaboration'. I always suspected that the cars would be almost identical with few minor esthetical diaparities in order to maintain distinctiveness and adequate assembly costs.

Now to address the logic.....Both cars should come w/ boxer engines. Alas this favors the usage of the AY6(Aisin from toyota gmc, ect). The Az6 Aisin is generally only used for inline 4's (miata, s2000 or rotaries) with (relatively?) low torque. Knowing that a turbo will likely not materialize for sub means that torque management will not be an issue and Perhaps! the AY6 could be fitted.....ya never know.
