There's always room to negotiate and if you keep looking you will find what you want.

You will never been in the situation where if you don't buy the car then you've lost your chance at owning one.

There a plenty around and plenty coming later on. There is going to be alot of extra models out there.

Have you tried Subaru? A BRZ Premium is about $27.5 OTD...

If you read that recent MT compare article, then you probably wouldn't want to get a Genny...

it was actually one of those big conglomerate dealerships that own 10 of them in jax and other cities.

i dont take other peoples word on what is better than what when i'm spending 25k, i'll go drive it myself and decide for myself but considering i cant even test drive it i have nothing to compare against

the subaru brz isnt here yet and our subbie dealers are small and i doubt they will get one anytime soon, i have been looking to buy a car for the past 3 weeks and am ready to buy now.

I passed on a white, manual, bespoke stereo, tints, etc. car that was 27k. That car was at Lehman. I think headquarter is the most helpful from what I see. I still need to figure out the lease program since no one knows about that and I really wanted to lease the car.

I called Bird Road Subaru today and all of their BRZ are already sold. Unless someone with a deposit backs out...Scion seems more willing to work with people who do not have a deposit.

I called around all Subaru dealers from MIA to West Palm Beach, There are some dealers who are not taking pre-orders, (waiting for a bidding war when cars get here). I pre-ordered at Pompano Beach Subaru. (Ask for Andre, and you can tell him David sent you, one of his pre-orders). Pretty nice guy. They are taking pre-orders. Lehman is taking pre-orders too. That's about it for dealers "close" to us taking pre-orders.

I had the same thing happen to me about 3 weeks ago. The dealer wanted 4k over MSRP and wouldnt budge on their price. They said "do to limited quantity, blah blah bla, we want you monies!" From what i heard, that car was sold the next day and they said they now want 5k over msrp for the next one.
Dealers may have an effect on this car, so shop smart.

I don't understand. What extra power is to be had?

If I want to buy a candy bar, the price is posted.
If I want to buy a camera, the price is posted.
If I want to buy a car.... the window sticker has MSRP but that's not really the price -- the price is only reached after private negotiations.

Pure Price adds transparency. I can call around and find out who sells candy bars for a competitive price. Ultimately they still make a profit (just like in the negotiating scenario) but this saves me time, hassle, confusion, and at the end of the day -- they get a fair profit, so everybody wins. Frankly I'd rather they made money off of providing product knowledge and guidance rather than salesmanship and sleazy negotiation tactics.

I welcome your input.

Indeed. Go back to expensive dealer to test drive it. Then, call around and find someone to sell it to you. You could ship the car several hundred miles for about $700. If everyone in your market it marking up the price, it might be a cheaper option to get one sooner. I know they guys I bought from have sold Priuses to people in Florida because they don't ever sell over MSRP. Just a thought, but personally I'd wait for the prices to become sane.

I don't get it myself. Why not just wait until the initial feeding frenzy is over? Besides, at least for me personally I would never buy the first production year of a new car model. There are always too many growing pains involved in new car models their first year.

Patience is what wins when buying a new car. Unless you just have a ton of $$$'s to throw at the dealer.

Right now I am saving $100.00 per week toward my FR-S and plan on buying next March. By then I will have a sizable down payment, the initial hype and feeding frenzy will be over and I will already have purchased my choice of after market performance/cosmetic parts and be ready to install instantly upon taking delivery of my car.

I know it's nice to be one of the first to have something, but to pay a premium just to say you got it first is kinda crazy.
