Though I don't wouldn't advocate regularly turning off the nanny systems unless you are in more controlled environments, I live an drive in a relatively hilly city with many intersections that should have stoplights, but don't. When you need to get across an intersection from a stoplight, you need to do it quickly, as, in many cases, approaching drivers will not see you due to a hill, and vice versa.

I've had numerous occasions of the traction control leaving me "hung out to dry" at some of these dangerous intersections.

I've read the manual on what the trac control, sport, vsc, blah blah blah blends actually do, but don't have a clear picture. The manual seems to have been translated back and forth between two or more languages before final printing.

With the AT, is it possible to completely squelch the nannies, with the more important question being, if so, does it then translate to the AT no longer being motor explosion proof?

As in me not downshifting when needed lugs the engine, or me accidentally hitting the downshift paddle more than the once intended overspeeding the engine. In sport and with trac control off per the 3-5 second button push, the tranny still babysits, which I like - wind it out and you'll see the available lower gear downshift arrow disappear.

What can I say - I'm old. But please chime in if you can shed some light.

The middle sport button tells the transmission to be agressive.

The outside buttons don't do anything to the transmission.

I once had a bad experience with the nannys under very heavy rain on a road with grooves from heavy trucks. Hitting the groove at speed with the nannys on resulted in the car acting really weird with the traction control doing way more harm then good. Took TS off and it wasn't that bad anymore.

First year I pushed the Nanny button every day.

Second year, every so often if I thought about it or it was snowing and I had to turn it on and off to suit conditions

Probably have not touched it three times in the last two years.

I touch the nanny every day.

Sometimes more than once, if she's feeling dirty.

I hold her for more than 3 seconds and she goes wild..
