Best way to replace a fender

What is the best way to replace a fender that was scratched and dented? Should I just bring it to a shop, or can I order the fender myself and get it painted?

If the fender needs a repaint, you "should" bring it to a body shop. They would blend it with the hood and the driver door (meaning shoot some paint and clear).

If you get one off a salved FRS, the VIN will be different, also the color might look a little off (slight shade difference due to different wear from the sun). Also, different parts will mean different painting conditions.

This happened to me about 4 weeks ago.

Took it to a shop. Took 'em 3 weeks to get all the parts in and fix it, but it was worth it. Here's how it looked the day after.

Point is... Take it to a shop. You'll be without a car for a while, but it'll be way too hard to fix it yourself and have it look okay.

Deja vu for me. Snow and sideways into a truck. 5mph does a lot of damage.

I'd take it back and tell them to buff out those swirls and holograms on your new paint

Oh, I did. Haha. This shot was just taken to show how well the repair went. I made them fix the paint, the day after I took this picture.

haha i had a small fender bender/scrathes in the same spot

They repainted the entire rear fender, blended passenger door and rear bumper. They left a lot of sanding marks in rear fender so I point it out and they repaint it. Still not perfect but like 90% so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the input, only problem I have is not having my car for a couple weeks. The scratches are not too bad, not sure if it's worth the time without the car. But I do need to get it fixed....

Would you be claiming this on insurance or paying out of pocket? What happened to cause the damage in the first place?
