CEL/IDLE/TRACTION Issue

Today I have received a phone call from the toyota dealership and they said they have received a software from the japaneese head company and will pass by on Sunday and install it on the car. They said it should not take time to do it.

I have had the car since 1/8/2012 and drove 7000 KM on the car with the Issue, I was able to reset it through the service a few times and tryed changing ECU's but hopefully now this will fix it.

I will keep everyone noted of this

I have had my ecu replaced @ 2392 miles. I was having idle drop (never stalled) issues, check engine light on and loss of power. The error they pulled up at toyota was p0019.

That was about 2 months ago. Since then I still get idle drops but only when my ac/heater is on. I do get a burning smell but not from my vents. It probably is from me just driving my car hard. I cant help it

I wish we had captured MFG DATE from the door plate. Might give a clearer picture of the problem cars.

Yeesh, quite a read. I'm approaching 12,000 miles and other than small dips as the AC cycles all is good. I had the HPFP replaced around 8,000 miles due to the chirping, and it was in for about three weeks at that time. I *think* they did flash of the ECU as well, but I'd have to review the paperwork again. I had had a couple misfires during cold start revs, which the dealer was able to reproduce... I think that's where the reflash came into the fix.

Got a call from Scion HQ again concerning my car. The chirping fuel pump seems to be fixed but the idle hunting while the A/C is on still happens. No CEL from it, and the Scion techs can't seem to catch it, so I'm still in the same boat so far as the hunting idle is concerned. I'm supposed to get another call from Scion on Tuesday regarding my issue and the lack of Scion taking care of my compensation.

So you have no cel, some crappy idle, and the HPFP chirping?

How long was your car out of service for repairs?

Car was in the shop for nearly 30 days for the CEL and the fuel pump was on backorder for 45 days. Both things got done, but after the new ecu I have crappy idle while the a/c is on.

This is what held me back from the first year model. ...1st year production cars tend to have some bugs/quirks

I see. If I was out my brand new car for that long, I would want a payment too...it's a shame that Toyota/Subaru didn't figure this stuff out before release.

I had the CEL and SL come on yesterday at 4k miles. Took to dealer today. They worked on it about 20 minutes and told me they updated the ECU. Mine had code P0017. VIN is 7092xx. Located in VA. On the way home the car accelerated the same as before, no sluggishness. Idle was normal. Time will tell.

My first discussion with them about compensation, that the Scion rep brought up, not me...I agreed on a foglight kit, a rear spoiler. Then the rep asked if I would also want extended warranty, I said ok.

So now the last time I spoke with the rep he said I had to choose between the extended warranty or the parts.....and if I wanted the parts I would have to order them, pay for them, pay for them to be installed, then they would reimburse me. This has totally pissed me off....so after suggesting to me that I also get the warranty now I have to choose between that and the parts AND I have to pay out of my own pocket to compensate me for the troubles Scion has been to me, then I can sit there and wait to be reimbursed. They can f@#& themselves if they think this is how it's going to happen.

Ever since i hade new VVT cam gear + ECU flash, whenever the car is cold the idle drops when im going for a complete stop (not everytime, quite random), only when cold though. Goes down to about 500rpm and the car just shudder for like 0.1sec and then bounces upto 700rpm (roughly) and stays there. Also the car "vibrates" more when just standing still and idling than it does when it's fully warmed up.

When the car is warmed up it got rock solid idle and never drops when going for a stop.

Anyone else experienced this?
