Mostly when i go camping. A friend has 100 acers of forested area in east Texas. Nothing as heavy as rock crawling, but plenty of dips and ditches.

Makes sense what you're saying. I guess it just swung the compromise too far away from road manners for me.

Update: I replaced the rear bumpstops with a Bilstein set that I had in the shop. It has a nice blue dustboot that goes with it and fits nicely on the shock. Yay for blue dustboots on Bilsteins!

They're 45mm in length, which is 12mm shorter than OEM rears (but remember rear motion ratio means more than 12mm of wheel travel gained before engagement). The big thing though is that the bumpstops are MUCH softer...OEM rear bumpstops are stiff as hell. Mega stiff. That's what was annoying me before so much.

Since cutting a bumpstop makes it firmer AND with the way the OEM rears sit on the dustboot you kinda need to keep the extra stiff portion...I just didn't really want to use a cut OEM rear bumpstop.

And yeah, it's a lot better! Very noticeable and positive improvement in ride quality and grip over bumpy/broken pavement, which is most of what I drive on. And that's with my switch back to my 17 inch summer tires at the same time.

It's much more what I was expecting from this spring and shock package. Simple, plenty of fun, and with a little bit of added height over OEM. Still firm for a "rally" set up, but this feels pretty good right now.

Also, I thought about but didn't modify the front bumpstop. The standard front internal Bilstein stops take up about 40% of the total travel and these rears about 39% of the total travel. That works. Factory is about 40% front and 50% rear, which is much more rear biased then most cars and plus that rear OEM bumper is so stiff.

The other option was the bumpstops we use with our RCE Yellow springs, which are 35mm in length but I didn't have any I could use laying around. Either way, the 45mm soft bumpstop makes sense for this application for protecting the shock and not being a damn hocky puck.

You can also + size the tires on 17", or better yet 16", for that extra bit o cushion.

As an alternative to the MCA traction mod, which is months on backorder, I went with the GP Sports version, which has built in subframe reinforcements in the front section, and a set of aluminum subframe inserts for the rear. The rear inserts are a bit of a problem for my 2022 BRZ, due to the swaybar mount, but I think I can work around it with adjustable endlinks.

Minimal increase in noise. I actually think the only noise I heard was due to me torquing the nuts on the rubber bushings while at full droop. I forgot to compress first. It stopped after a few good compressions on the street.

What are your thoughts on relocating that trailing arm pickup point from the subframe to the chassis?
